Making sense of Coupons, Coupon Codes, Promotional Codes

Making sense of Coupons, Coupon Codes, Promotional Codes!
by Neal Rapoport

Most people can't waste their time using grocery coupons. The small amount of money you save just isn't worth the effort. But have you thought about using coupons for larger ticket items. When was the last time you saw a clip-coupon for Circuit City, 1-800-flowers, Dell, Target, Nordstroms, or other popular stores. You usually are not going to find these in your sunday paper, but they are out there. And there is great news about these too; They are simple to use, are usually not product-specific, and they can all be found online.

Coupons exist for hundreds of stores like, Office Depot, Omaha Steaks, Petsmart, REI and even Sears. These are stores you have hopefully heard of, and they all offer coupons if you're willing to purchase items online. The coupons change daily, so while at the time of this writing, there were are existing promotions for $15 off $40 at Roamans, 35% off Dell notebooks and the equivalent of 10% off Best Buy, there's always a bargain to be had.

There are so many names for the coupons, some stores call them 'Coupon Codes', 'Discount Code', 'Promotional code', and any name under the sun... But rest assured, you're going to save money when you use them.

A great little trick to shopping with coupons is called coupon 'stacking'. Some stores will let you use multiple coupons on a single item or order. So if you have a 20% coupon and a 10% one, you are getting the combined discount. Depending on how the store calculates this, it could be a 28%-30% discount. Granted, this is not offered at all stores, but many of the stores have clearance or outlet areas, and most will allow you to use coupons there.

Deals are the common online term for getting a good bargain on something. If you visit popular forums, you'll see that many of their members devote a tremendous amount of time generating the best Deals. Many times, you'll see an item, that once you take into account the clearance or discount price, and add the coupon, you're saving 90% or more, all with the click of the mouse!
